About 3 weeks ago my son (age 37) stopped communicating with any of his friends. They got worried as he would not answer his cell, or emails. Last week two people called the police and they did a welfare check. Because the police came one day and he did not answer the door, the next day they asked the landlord to let them into his apartment. My son said to the police he did not want to talk to anyone. The police said he seemed depressed, but my son did not want any help. I have called my son, emailed him, texted him, tried to skype him, and even sent an overnight letter. I have continued to call him daily and leave a message just aksing him to call me or his dad or this one good friend. He works out of his home and is self employed, but his business associates say he has not logged on for nearly three weeks. One friend has left her business card on the door three days in a row. the cards are still there, meaning he has not even left his apartment (oh, he could have left for good and put the cards back on the door) but we don't think this is the case. The police went back today and knocked on the door again, but there was no answer. they left him a message on his cell phone and also their card at the door. His cell phone rings, so I am assuming it is not turned off. I am sure he has received at least 30+ messages and the phone does not say the message box is full, so I am wondering if he is listening to the messages and then deleting them (or just deleting them with listening to them). The police have told me that they have really strict laws in Washington state and they cannot go back into the apartment without some real serious reasons for entering. The officer said his hands are tied but would talk to his supervisor. He said that since my son has already told them he wants to be left alone and he was OK when the saw him, they can't do much. His landlord says she cannot legally go in for at least another 7 days. If he has not paid the April rent by the 5th, then they put a 48 hour notice about entering his apartment. I am over 2000 miles from him and I am not sure that if he would not answer the door for the police, his friends, his landlord, he would even answer the door for me. He has a cat that he adores. Things we think have not been going well financially for him, but not enough to go this far off. He did have some issues with drugs back when he was in his late teens, but nothing serious since he was about 19. He has used marijuana in the recent years, but also got on a huge health kick about 7 years ago and would not put anything bad in his body, he would eat only organic food, etc. In the past his father and I have had a few times where there was an argument and he might not talk to us, but he has never just stopped communicating with his friends. Any input, suggestions, ideas.....anything you want to say is fine. just needing some feedback.
