Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Again, thank you.
what youve been describing to them is something they'll never understand unless they go through it themselves... and you dont want them to do that
instead, ask for help with the small steps... only you can know what to ask for help with... but make it small things that they can actually help with
if you need help with your meds, ask your husband to set an alarm and remind you to take the right meds at the right time
if you need help finding a dr, ask around in the right circles (your husband, a friend, here, a hotline)
if you just need to be held, then cuddle with your husband
one reason they react the way they do when you ask them to carry you to the top of the mountain is because they're frustrated that they cant see a way to help... asking for help with the small steps lets them help and feel supportive and that can only help... in so many ways
im really glad youre feeling better... dont be too overwhelmed by the size of the mountain... just figure out where your next step needs to land
maybe its talking to your husband, maybe its talking more here, maybe its finding a dr, etc... really, you are the only one who can decide where each step lands... we can only help you land that step
but we're happy to! :)
