Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
oh and I never went on depressionmatch.com but I did meet my boyfriend on DS 41/2 years ago.
I think that if you're going out to socialize, aren't you wanting to have a good time? Then you should be trying to be in a good mood. I think friends should be able to accept us as we are. I'm not up all the time and my friends know it. If anything they can talk me out of it and soon I'm back to wanting to smile again. I don't think that anyone expects us to be up 100% of the time. The percentage we are feeling good will make the difference.
I don't think depression has to be who you are, like: "Hi, I'm mrone, and I have depression." You don't have to wear it on your sleeve in order to feel you're being honest with other people. Gradually as you get to know them, you can let people in on it. It's called building up emotional intimacy. It happens gradually, not instantaneously.
