Has anyone tried restricting the number of hours they sleep as a treatment for their depression? What was your experience? Or have you heard of anyone doing this.
I vaguely remember a psychiatrist once suggesting to me that sometimes drastically restricting your sleep can vastly improve your mood if you are depressed.
Recently I've noticed that if I sleep for more than about 5 hours a night, I end up feeling very unmotivated during the day and then unable to fall asleep the next night. It is definitely harder to get out of bed in the morning on less sleep, but if I manage to do it I feel more motivated all day and my insomnia the next night virtually disappears. I especially notice the effect on my mood after I pull an all nighter. I slept only 2 hours last night, and after dragging myself out of bed today I am a tiny bit tired, but my general mood is extremely elevated compared to yesterday when I felt miserable after a long sleep.

Never heard of it although would think quality over quantity would effect your mood for the better. Bet bet is see a sleep clinic and get the 411.

I have used this in the past and it really helped until I did it too much and got manic ( I am schizoaffective-bipolar subtype). But if I do it for only one or two days it helps my depression. Now I sleep about 5-8 hours and it helps. I have a routine for my day and that helps too. I still have my bad days still but they are less frequent.

I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy. It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.

He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...
