Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm old
I'm alone. I have 3 grandkids I haven’t seen in years and may never see again since they are far away and their parents refuse to vaccinate, so they likely will not be able to fly
I have RA, OA, osteoporosis, Sjogrens, hives . . . spinal stenosis . . .
I'm in back pain and there is no remedy for (except pain killers which i don't want to take)
I'm 76 - in the final stretch of this thing called life
I had covid in Dec and feel like I aged 20 years since then. I may have long haul covid.
COVID took away my three pleausres: eating out, going to movies a m lon tly RocknRoll dance in the clubhouse of my gated community.
COVID: I don‘t see an end. I foresee ebbs and flows, periods of low risk when we can let our guard down a little, but then it ramps up. I see no end in this pattern inasmuch as less that 20% of the global population is vaccinated and the non-vaccinated are hosts for every new variant. And we are a mobile society. That’s pretty damn depressing!
And if that’s not enough…there’s global warming with increased floods, fires and more and worse storms and excessive heat that I already cannot tolerate.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, or Domino's?

Is there a support group (on line or in person) in your gated community? I'm sure there's lots of people like you there. I myself go to counseling (in person now) once a week, and that helps. So I noticed it really helps a lot if you talk to someone about it. And you can write about it here. Also just take it easy don't think too far ahead, just take it one day at a time. Life has changed for everyone now. Good luck, keep us posted.
To clarify: I have had RA since I my 30's That's 40 years - not one "bout' nor a pain here or there in one body part. RA is very different from "arthritis."
RA is an incurable, degenerative, crippling, systemic autoimmune disease which effects not only joints but major organs. I was hospitalized for a WEEK to drain a pleural effusion caused by my RA. And that's not to mention side effects of being on drugs for 45+ years.
I have had approx. 15 surgeries because of RA and I still have permanent crippling deformities and have been permanently disabled since 2003.
RA is known to reduce lifespan by 10-15 years, mostly because of risk to the heart.
So yes, I am very keenly aware that I am in the twilight of my life. Clearly more is behind me than in front of me.
There is no joy in Mudville. I cannot go to a movie or out to eat or to the dances I used to enjoy. I am vaccinated and plan to get a booster, but will not go into crowded indoor spaces with unmasked people whose vaccine status is unknown.
My back pain is another issue that is not helped by my RA meds. PAIN is a MF! And very depressing.
So is aging alone.
