I had a discussion or argument with my sister last night that has me a little upset. Apparently, she had a haircut and lost some weight and asked how she looked. I said that I hadn't noticed. She asked how could I not noticed and I responded I don't look at those things. In response, she said I'm either stupid not to see or don't care about people. "No, I just don't care about appearances." I told her about how I hate being treated differently when I'm wearing t-shirt and Dickies (Yesterday, I was carded buying a video game and the person in front of me buying Grand Theft Auto wasn't. I bet my car that I was older.) and when I'm wearing a shirt and tie (Yes, sir; Can I help you, Sir?).
Then, I went off on a tangent. I mentioned how I don't understand all the make-up and clothes women wear.I don't cut that eyeshadow, lipstick, push-ups bras or why all blouses and tops seem to be all V-necks or other attempts to "enhance" appearances. What's with the fakery when it won't be there once the cold cream comes out? I asked how she would feel if when she meet her boyfriend he showed up in an Armani suit and new Mercedes and it was all rented. After all, it seems that women are judged by appearances and men by power and status. Wouldn't he be doing the same thing as with the makeup? She said no.
I can be kind, as in RAOKs, or rather rude and blunt, especially in conversations, be it person or on the phone. I'm still the same person regardless of how I look. In the past, I even had people offer to give me a makeover to "cheer" me up. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!! I need a Slurpee followed by a Pepsi, maybe a 2 liter.

I would do anything for a bit of a lift and if that means looking in the mirror at a woman who looks good and it makes me feel good. I'll have your makeover while you slurp yourself to obesity.
What was so wrong that you you couldn't pay her a compliment? Looks are not everything but people who make an effort in their lives would get more respect from me.
We battle every day with depression, it can make us not care.
I'm sorry you have to resort to a slurpee (whatever that is) to make you feel good.

That said, I do think that if I had been your sister, I may have been hurt by you not noticing her weight loss and new hair cut.. It is nice to take pride in the way you look, and the work that you do to maintain yourself..There is a difference between wearing makeup and a low cut blouse to attract attention soley based on appearance. It is quite another to take pride in how you look, for your own well being.. just my opinions.. xxx
