Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hello, new member here. I've noticed lately that I can't watch Romantic movies without feeling pain, by that I mean that when it comes to the sex or kissing scenes, I cry. Does anyone else? I feel stuck between feelings of loneliness, needing a love interest and feelings of I've been alone so long, it's better this way!
I get stuck inside my head a lot and I never thought to search out places, like this, for support. It would be nice to talk to others who may be in similar situations and maybe find a good sounding board.
I see that with depression there is a lot of feelings of not being worthy, not good enough.
In this moment, just right now, I so need a hug, that human touch. How does one say everything in such little time and space!?
Here's to one more night of feeling all alone.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

When you fall deeply in love with yourself, others will follow.
Yes, there are moments when I miss and need that physical thing....and I'm married!!
I have dealt with depression since 1995. I have good days and not so good days but, I have learned that the source of my feelings is the depression which gives a warped view of reality at times. I know that I have worth and I know that life is precious even though there are some hard times we must face. I don't know your circumstances but, I have been through some very tough times in life and I have been here about 7 yrs. on DS. There are many different triggers to depression. Death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, financial tragedies, loss of a job, etc. Any of these can trigger depression. What people don't understand, that have never dealt with depression is you just don't "snap out of it". It takes time, work, meds and sometimes counseling to learn to deal with this dreadful state. I am here any time you need someone to talk to or vent to.
and, you right. we can feel lonely in a full room.
