Do any of you feel like you don't really experience any real emotions? I have been on effexor for 3 months now and while it has gotten rid of the depression I am now not able to feel. I mean I have surface emotions that last a couple minutes to an hour but I feel dull inside. almost like my insides are dead.

I experienced feeling emotionless for a while after my dosage had been increased. After a couple of weeks though things started to seem more normal again. Maybe wait it out for a while.

I have been taking effexor for 5 years now i have upped the dosage 3 times and am now taking 187.5 mg dose I find it is no longer working for my depression but it has helped keep my panic attacks to almost none and my pms stopped when I started taking it but I feel like it is coming back again.....a comment to Liz the feeling spacy is a side effect of withdrawing off the meds I feel like i am being electocuted if I miss mine....

I have been on effexor for about 6 years now. I am currently on 225mg. I can totally relate to the lack of emotion. It bugs the hell out of me, but I know if I go off of it I'll be suicidal. I guess it's a trade off

I'm on 300mg a day, but can't say that I feel numb, I'm still very sensitive and get hurt easily. The only side-effect I get is excessive perspiring.....oooooooohh it's awful, never had this before

I take 150 mg of Effexor XR in the morning and it has helped my depression and I experience emotions. Everyone has a different brain and I would suggest you discuss your lack of feelings with your docs because you may be taking too much. Sorry I can't be of more help.
