Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I think it is ironic that I get the bright idea to try and think positive and then everything happened at once.

I know things look and feel bad, but you have so much more than you know.
Today is a really bad day for me physically, I have a condition called cyclic vomiting syndrome. I vomit a week a month, every month. I vomit sometimes until I pass out. I know that sounds horrible and it is, but it's also taught me a lot too. I am more openminded about people who are different and more patient. I am thankful for the three weeks a month I have symptom free, they're like a vacation :)
I could list all the bad things in my life and justify my suicide attempt, because my life is horrible as a whole, even before birth. But I focus on the good things, because without them...I have no reason to suffer through my CVS every month. I have the thought of those three good weeks to get me through the one bad one.
I'm not belittling your struggles, just giving you pause to count your blessings. I hope your medication will calm some of your worries and afford you the clarity to see your positives.
The brain seems either pre-programmed or it has learned environmentally to slide towards negative thinking but it seems to be more to it than just changing your thoughts. Check out a book or books by Richard Carlson esp you can be happy no matter what...it's a good read that has more info in the first chapter than the secret in it's entirety.
Peace
Sweatingbullets, I am gonna buy that book. I have a $25 gift cert to Barnes and Noble which is good because I am broke. The Secret did have some advice that HellsBelle was saying to have a Gratitude Journal. I do journalling but most of the time I am just reiterating my problems that day so I will try to look at the good. I agree that more research should be done on depression. I hate to go back on meds but I am in such a bed place that I need something. I think the worry and anxiety is worse that the depression tight now. I am looking forward to reading that book. Thanks.
