Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I don't bother with either one of them because I'm tired of sifting thru what they say and look for the truth that 95% of the time ..the truth wasn't there.
Maybe in some cases, but certainly not in all cases. I think it might be important for the person who is the liar to first feel safe. That whatever ends up coming out isn't going to make anyone love them less, etc. Then, in my own opinion only, I think that person needs to seek out why it is they lie. I read once that there's not really very many truly "pathological" liars, i.e. people who lie just for the sake of lying. Often it is tied to a deeper psychological issue. Perhaps they had an abusive past and lying became a defense mechanism to hide from the truth of the abuse. Or if it was physical abuse maybe they learned to lie about things so the abuser would not be angry with them. There could be many various reasons why someone develops a habit of lying. If you focus on the lies you may only be focusing on a symptom instead of the bigger issue which is causing the lying.
I have no idea what drives her. We did not have an abusive childhood, although there was alot of neglect due to constant alcohol consumption on my parent's part; and a kind of blatant favoritism, that basically granted her every wish. I believe my parents simply spoiled her into behaving like a monster. She also has a delusion of grand superiority, and can be breath-takingly cruel.
And I have given up all hope she will ever become enlightened or acknowledge the damage she's done over the years. Her lies pile up like wreckage on a beach, and she only grows harder and colder.
