Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It's a bit of a copout to use having to keep your partner healthy as part of the reason you let your meds run out and let yourself run down. The thing is, no matter what your living situation is, YOU are your first priority to keep healthy and the depression managed. Your partner needs to keep their own-selves healthy. It is very commendable that you realized how bad the situation was and agreed to go inpatient and get re-stabilized on meds, and it's great that your feeling better now....but you do need to make yourself a priority and make sure that your taking care of yourself and keeping your meds on track, cuz dude their ain't nobody else that's gonna do it, ya know.
Take care.
me copping out occasionally might just have to be what happens. Yeah it ain't the best. But it ain't killed me yet either. So you are welcome to be whatever you wish. And I'll be that guy that tries to make the most of your best wishes. Thanks for the straight talk. Please feel free to add what you wish. All the best to you.
I hear you and I do get it. I've been BiPolar for 28 years, I was married to a functioning alcoholic for 24 years who never held a job for more than 6 months, if that. So between being BiPolar and having to keep that Stable, I also have multiple Chronic Illnesses/Diseases, Chronic Pain to manage, I've had 30 Surgeries in the last 19 years, I take 22 meds a day.....and while dealing with all that I managed my 12 years at University, racked up 2 Bachelors and a Ph.D, because I knew I would always be the one who would have to be the money make in my family....I had 2 sons who I would do whatever the hell it took to make sure they didn't grow up in any way like I had to.
So I totally get how hard it can be to keep things in check so your mental illnesses stays managed and you stay healthy, and you've had a lot of balls in the air. And how you choose to manage or not manage your illness is your problem, not mine. I was just offering an opinion, because if you don't take care of you, there's no way you can be well enough to take care of your partner.
I sincerely do wish you well and hope things stay stable for you.
Take care,
Kat
