I had thought I could just save this for a journal entry tonight...but...I can't. I just can't. Don't really know where this fits, so I'm putting this both here and on the paranoia board (the latter is probably where this belongs so don't be afraid to tell me that if this is out of place):
Some days, I question why it is that I don't want to leave the house unless I absolutely have to (examples: doctor appointments, runs because they're around a tot lot a block from home, to my current part-time job). This comes up because I'm in the process of looking for a better job than I have now, but I pretty much do everything wrong. I treat networking events like they're dynamite sticks and delete the invites as they come in.
Then I get reminders like this morning about why I am the way that I am. Some of you have probably heard about the shootings in Orlando at a nightclub (let's take the fact that it's a gay nightclub out of the picture because I don't think that's relevant) early this morning (late last night?). I really can't bear to go into details about it...all I really want to tell is that it has killed at least 50 and set another 53 or so to the hospital. I think the death toll is expected to rise.
That's why I don't like going out. I know that it technically hurts me not to, but I don't own body armor...and my parents have gone on record saying that if they catch me ordering it I'll be sent straight to the Happy Valley Nut House (you know what I mean). I know I shouldn't be saying this, but since I believe people are morally only out to hurt others...
...I feel like I need body armor AND a gun just to get through most days. I feel that it's not safe out there anymore. Actually that needs to be rephrased a little: It's been virtually forever since I've felt totally safe, courtesy of a smoke bombing I had to endure in high school, but the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 took that to another level by telling me that locations I thought I could visit without a second thought are not failsafe.
I keep telling myself that I have to be better than this, but I just can't do it. Nobody can be trusted IRL anymore...that's the reality I feel.

First of all the rifle that was used by the ISLAMIC TERRORIST was NOT a assault riffle. The term assault rifle was created by the media to make it sound more menacing, but the truth is that it was a single fire rifle just like every other single fire rifle. The term assault rife is actually meant to be used for automatic rifles that the military has meaning they shot more than one round per trigger pull.
The second thing I want to clear up is that it has been stated in history that the USA can never be invaded, because there are more guns and ammunition in the homes than there is in the entire military. Taking away guns from law abiding people will do nothing for safety or security for this nation. Look at the Paris attack and how many people were slaughtered there. The first thing Hitler did was take away guns from the people and look how that ended with the slaughter of millions.
The real fault lies with the government yet again and the FBI. They did back ground checks. If he was under investigation then how was he allowed to have a gun permit and legally purchase guns?
Obama and Killary both want to bring over 200,000 refugies from the middle east. Do you think the government can do back ground checks on all them? That many people brought into a country that is already broke and taxing its people into poverty will kill this country and say 1/2 of them are terrorists that would start a war inside the USA .
I am just stating my opinion with some facts here, I always suggest people educate themselves before listening to lieing media in the United States of America!
There was a case where a lady at a wrestling match got mad at what was going on in the match and she jumped into the ring and pulled her hand gun. IDIOT!
I do agree with you, one well trained person who was carrying could have made that tragedy much less.
One problem with dreamers is that we tend to pass laws that would fit well with our dream, but we fail to realize that we can not make the world into our dream world by laws; not all the time.
I wish I had a better answer.
I do know that unshackling the rules of debate is a very good place to start.

What's going to be happening here is people carrying concealed handguns anyway in "gun free zones" despite the laws, and who can blame them!
If you guys saw a group of bikers riding down the road with guns on their hips, would you wonder why they all had guns?
Well more people have been killed by drunk drivers than by guns. So maybe the same thing your talking should be put in place about driving too? I mean seriously when I was a firefighter/EMT I scrapped more body's off the pavement from drunk or distracted drivers than any other thing . A car is far more dangerous then a gun is! Look at all the people killed by the old people that could not tell the difference between the gas and break a couple of years ago.
The actual deaths from gun violence in the USA is not as bad as the media publishes it. Also no one ever hears about the criminals stopped from law abiding gun owners. Those stories are never told, because they don't fit the Liberal agenda. The second amendment was written into the constitution to allow we the people to be able to defend and reclaim our country if it was ever taken.

You are absolutely right if anyone there would have had even a concealed carry permit and had a hand gun they could have stopped him. A rifle is a rifle and really the only choice the American people have in rifles is semi Automatic meaning 1 shot per trigger pull or bolt action which has to be reloaded with ever trigger pull by sliding the bolt in and out to chamber a round. .
I do agree that it is a major responcibilty to own guns, but on the other hand in this country it is a Constitutional right. People who obey the laws do not just snap and go on killing sprees. No one wants to face the real root causes oh these people that do go on killing sprees. The last three were all Islamic Terrorists and that is their religious beliefs and before that the kids that went on shooting sprees in schools stole the guns from their parents, neighbors, or else where. I am by no means trying to make light of any of these mass shootings. The kids that went on shooting sprees did have mental problems and were also seriously bullied in school which added to the problem. The schools today still do absolutely NOTHING about bullying. Mental Illness can be genetic, but most times is really comes from trauma that people sustain going through life. If you want mental Illness evaluations on everyone that wants to own guns then I guess no one will own guns. 9 out of 10 people suffer from depression at one point or another in their life. Then you have other issues like Bi-polar and Borderline disorders and PTSD and that one is caused by extreme stress or abuse and the greatest sufferers are the military personnel and they go through grueling training on how to use guns and kill with them. SO I guess where dose the line get drawn on who can and cant have a gun?
In this country there are already laws in place and if they were taken more seriously by the government then maybe they would work. I do not believe that adding any additional laws are going to help. It was the incompitance of the FBI that let this man lose to kill and wound over 100 people and than they let him purchase guns when he was a suspect and investigated twice so that means they never did a back ground check on him to begin with if they issued him a permit to purchase guns.
