Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Hello everyone,
To make a long story short, I am a wife, mother, and special education teacher. Everyday at work, I wear so many hats and come home mentally and physically exhausted. I feel like I can't do enough as far as my caseload goes and yes because I can handle difficult cases, I have the most involved kids with severe trauma, behavioral issues, and mental health issues. This year I just leave everyday thinking how do I go home to my husband and daughter. I have no energy to give to them. I am like a zombie when I get home. It's been depressing me lately and I just want more energy and time to give them. I feel overwhelmed and like a failure right now. I just wish I had more to give of myself.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

So hello. I'm just a teenager but I've been struggling with porn for almost 6 years and I'm too shy to talk to anyone about it. Some help might really be welcome cause I've tried to quit on my own but I end up relapsing all the time. I'm so tired of this and I want to stop
Than you. Yes I need to take of myself. I am trying to make a plan for myself. I have to remember to take one thing at a time.
I also heard that if you take a mental break between activities during the day it can help. For example, if you have a stressful meeting regarding the educational plan for a child, take 5 or 10 minutes before you go to the next thing on your schedule and do something completely unrelated to work. Listen to a song you love. Play a game on your computer. Read a short, encouraging passage from a book. Do anything but think about what just happened in the meeting. This is kind of like pushing reset and can be refreshing. You can also do this before leaving work to refocus before you start your time at home with your family. I hope this gives you some ideas on things that would work for you. Hugs! You do have a tough but very important job.
I think you can use time wisely. First, you don't always need to cook, pick up should be fine. Do throw a few compliments to men, we like them. On a weekend, some time together is nice. I think for your child there can be the same. Perhaps tell your daughter about the work you do.
We have a family friend who also teaches the disabled and her children came out well.
