Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I keep defaulting to my same old negative core beliefs.
I'm boring.
I'm weird.
I'm stupid.
No one one actually likes me.
And the biggest ones....
I'm worthless.
I don't matter.
How am I supposed to challenge these beliefs when they are so engrained in my soul?
Reinforced by multiple people through out my life (past and present)
I'll give examples.
Thought: im boring.
I can tell myself "I'm not boring" but then someone asks "what's new and exciting?"
I don't have any answer because all I did all week was go to work, and clean my house. Nothing new, and certainly not exciting.
Thought: I don't matter.
I approach someone, telling them that Im struggling and need help.
They cut me off mid sentence to say. "Hold on I want to talk to -so in so-" and don't come back.
I could list examples all night long.
I think trying to overcome my social anxiety is making my depression worse as I keep failing miserablely at it.
I really do feel like just giving up entirely on it. (But keeping on my meds cause they keep me from doing anything too stupid) idk ill bring it up at therapy tomorrow.
Maybe i'm just a lost cause.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Glad you have a therapist and are on meds. You are going to be okay!! These things aren't easy and can't be fixed overnight. It's a daily struggle, I know. I've had anxiety coming up on 30 years of daily anxiety and it sure ain't easy!
Hang in there. You will get better.
I hope your therapy goes very well. I know things might feel low and maybe dark but you got this. I tell myself that a lot lately, Even if that one sentence gives you enough motivation to just do a hobby, or twiddle your thumbs for hours, it's better than letting your mind make the decision.
You change the irrational thought to something somewhat believable or it doesn’t work Ex. Thought is I am unlikable. I could change it to
I am likable but that’s not entirely believable for me personally. But a believable thougt that is rational is that some people will like me and some people will not and that is true of every single person on earth this is a rational thought that could make me feel better
Maybe it might help and it works better to do in therapy
I'm sorry that you're hurting
I was going to mention cbt as well
It's helped a lot of people
My old GP swears by mindfullness as well
I
I think CBT is a part of it with other things mixed in .
