Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
My wife has been suffering with clinical depression her entire adult life. I'm her 4th husband and I'd rather die than lose her. We are currently separated and living 3,000 miles apart. She tells me she needs her space to get her head straight and also tells me she doesn't want to be married anymore. Our 2 year anniversary was 2 weeks ago. I need advice on depression so I can better understand what she's going through. I told her I'll do anything for her and I'll do anything to make our marriage better. I just don't know what I need to do.

((I tried to post this in one of my journals...but DS kept giving me an error message)))Decided to venture to Detroit. I rarely get to this side of the state since my father was murdered on the east side about 41 years ago. My mom and I rarely went to this side, but I recall she visited the Sommset (www.thesomersetcollection.com/) mall with one of her friends a few years ago. She talked about the...

End of the month and a lack of any better theme I've just decided to give you guys some otters.... just because... Hope you're having a great end to the month!

I doubt the depression is cause of separation
I had always WANTED to be married, but never thought that I was good enough to be married. It was years AFTER my husband and I were married that I stopped looking at apartments and thinking to myself, "Oh, this doesn't seem so bad. I will look at that when we get divorced.", etc. It had nothing to do with him and my love for him. It is that I did not feel like I was worth while as a human being and that he could do better.
This is still a daily struggle for me. Suicide is constantly in the back of my mind because I feel worthless as an individual. I pour every living ounce of myself into my husband and children and I STILL feel that they would be better off without me. better with a different wife. better with a different mom.
I hate leaving the house. I hate pretending to smile and be happy. I hate faking a happy marriage. I hate when people see me out with my husband because I feel like everyone is looking at us and thinking, "ugh. poor guy. stuck with THAT."
When I am upset, the last thing I want it to talk to anyone. My husband always wants to hold me or hug me and I HATE it. I just want to be alone. I will give him to his hugs to appease him, but I am in major anxiety the whole time, just wanting him to let me go so I can go away and be alone.
I am not saying these things to try to take the focus away from you, I am saying them to (hopefully) help you understand the mindset of a woman who deeply loves her husband but also struggles with the demon of depression and how much it can warp your mind.
Communication is key! I'm learning to communicate with him more effectively about my struggles. It's not easy. If your wife loves you and you love her you will both find a way to make it work. Depression sucks but with good communication and support it doesn't have to ruin a marriage.
Best of luck to you!
