my update from the er

so i went to the er at like 6:00 and the nurse took my bldd pressure and said it was kinda high for somene my age (it was 144 over 77, i think) then she askd me if i was under stress and i said yea, but i didnt feel like talking further cuz my mom was in the room. so then the doc came and did the simple test like squeezing his finger, and pushing my foot with his hand, (wich was hard on my right ft cuz i cant feel anything) , following his finger with my eyes and stuff. then i get a cat scan of my brain it came back negative, then the doc gave my mom a number to a pediatric neurlgist and i was discharged and i askd wen is she gnna call and she was like im not the doc said ur normal and i was like but im still numb and she was like well u can go wen u goo home at the end of the summer....im not gonna get any further help cuz i have a feeling my dad is blaming this on that voodoo shiit he thinks his family is doing and so again im stuck, on my own with this and thats why im in an angry mood!!!! :(

I'm sorry. As a mother, I really don't understand your parents and how they can disregard what doctors tell them to do for you. No wonder you are angry. And you have insurance, right? Just because a CT scan is normal does not mean there is not a problem.

What's going on with the voodoo?

Can you call the pediatric neurologist yourself?

Maybe you could call the hospital back and ask to speak to a social worker. Tell the social worker what's going on and see what she recommends.

voodoo is sme spiritual evil shiit that some africans and islanders belive in. i dont belive in it i think its bull shit...i knw right a ct scan tells me that there isnt any tumors or anything like that...i could call the neurlogist myself but cant do anything cuz i dont have any info, like insurance and other things they need, and i dont have a liscence or car, yea i have had too many social wrkers in my life, ne just left in like feburary and everyone is pissed about that event...thank you :)

I don't know about unpinching a nerve either. Is the numbness everywhere on one side of your body?

Blood pressure can be elevated just by being in the ER. Has that ever happened to you before? maybe the next time you're at a store that has one of those blood pressure machines (like K-Mart and many grocery stores and drug stores) you could check your blood pressure. Most likely it will be normal.

i get panic attacks alot could that be why it was kida high? and im just angry sad and just pissed all the time.....aww its ok....yea its all on the right side of my body and the side of my head not my face, this never happened to me before, and the bp never was higher before always normal

I am really sorry for all that has been going on. I hope things will go better. However, your profile says that you're 16 and that you live in the US. And law states that as long as you are over 14 years of age you can seek medical attention without your parents permission. As long as you are a dependant on your one of your parents insurance then you shouldn't have any financial problems with it either. If you continue to have problems with it, you have the right to go to an authority figure, such as the police or someone to be sure you recieve the medical attention that you need.
