Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I love all animals but have always been a cat person and I lost the most special cat I ever had in Augusut. It's still hard. I have another cat, but he's gotten sick too and I don't know what's wrong yet.
What angers me sometimes is that i spent $5,000 in a matter of 3 days only to lose my cat. It was a great setback for me emotionally AND financially. BUT I would have found a way to way ANYTHING if what my cat had could be treated and he would live. Dogs & cats are gifts to us I believe. They are living creatures, and there's nothing more important to spend money on.
Anyway, you story saddened me. Don['t rush to adopt another dog; you'll know when you['re ready.
It hurts every time, but to me the sorrow at the end of the journey with each pet only proves that I loved them when they were alive. I may or may not replace these pets when they pass. I am 62 now, and not sure if I want another pet when I'm in my 70s and 80s.
Time will tell.
My vet sent me a card that talks about the rainbow bridge. I am not sure if anybody else posted you about this, so here goes.
There is the belief that when we pass from this world to the next we use a rainbow bridge that only the departed can see and use. Waiting for us on the other side are all the wonderful pets we have known during our life. They are young and healthy, and ready to romp with us, sleep in our laps, and do all the things they did in life with us.
I can not prove that this is true, nor can I prove that it is false. I choose to believe it, and that once we are across our pets will lead us to our family and friends who have passed before we did.
Gentle hugs to you, you are not alone in the loss that you are feeling.
Anyway, sorry for your loss. Take time to grieve. The day will come when you will want to walk again, be outside again, and doing all the things your dog did with you.
