My boyfriend forced me to get my long hair cut very short as my depression got really bad. I know I need help badly and I have an extremely hard time taking care of myself but I wish I would have gotten the chance to try and get better and deal with it rather than having someone chop it all off. I feel lost without my long hair. I do think your dad is trying to help you genuinely but I think if it's important to you to keep your hair, you maybe should try getting it done. You'll probably feel better with it fixed and it will feel like one less thing to worry about.

One of the things I fear is resentment. I'm scared of what people might say. I mean the fact that I've become withdrawn from people and become a lab mouse has already created quite a stir among my 'friends' with some telling me that I'm acting like a spoiled child just because I have a few disappointments. Now if I cut my hair I'm afraid I might create more enemies since they all appreciated me for my long hair. I'm trying my best to keep the few friends I have remaining as much as possible. I don't know how they would react if I got rid of it.

If "friends" drop you because of hair - they were never friends at all.
Real friends don't care about hair. They care about the person underneath the hair.

You'll feel so much better without having to deal with that tangled mess... every eight months. You'll feel better without having to wash and condition and de-tangle and comb and... all that fuss and bother. I can't even imagine how exhausting it would be to take proper care of ALL THAT HAIR. And its not even nice hair, its been ignored far too long. Having the length shortened will give you one less thing to waste energy on, one less thing to worry about.

Well I got an appointment at a hair salon. Oh dear....everyone is gonna see me and laugh at me. I don't know how much more starring I can take. I bet one of the ladies are going to ask me if I don't practice proper hygiene. They probably are gonna ask me often I bathe....uggh!!!They are gonna think I'm a nasty girl. Bet they think I don't deserve to have any friends.. I hope they will be able to bring some order to my hair. My dad described it to them over the phone and they are like...nope. It's far beyond damage. Well I just want to thank you guys for your patience and I will update you on the ordeal yet to come.

I had my long hair cut off when I was 13 and never looked back, never grew it long again. Too much work, bad quality hair, and it didn't suit the shape of my face anyway. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

I have had problems with depression for so many years. It comes and goes with me. some times it hits and stay around for quite a while and other times it doesn't stay as long sometimes they can just tweak my medicine and it helps other times it doesn't. But I know one thing from experience with this thing depression gets worse when you don't groom. At least it always does for me. I sometimes have to force my self to do this but I do get it done and sometimes it makes it better and other times it doesn't, but it doesn't let me get any worse. Instead of giving your therapist your journal try reading it to her I might help you more to read it to her because It can help her to see how depressed you really are. If you haven't shared your journal with your doctor try sharing it with your doctor and if you do get suicidal reach out for help. I wish you all the luck in the world. If you don't want to get your hair cut than I don't see Andy reason why you schould do it ....your dision not your dads ..but I do feel that you would feel better. If you went and had it looked after at a hairdresser. Or if you know a good frend that could help you .... I am not black but I go through times when I don't want to look after my hair and it is permed so it gets tangled but when I fix it up I always feel better .....I need my long hair I had mt hair short twice and I just hated it .......I am sorry about your brother and how sad he is they do feel when we are depressed I also went through that with my brothers and sisters as I have had depreshion all my life to one degree or a nother ........just make sure you let him know just how' much you love him ....you realy do have to do somthing about your diet if you are only eating soup start adding foods that are good for you veggies and fruits eating good also helps with depression if it is finished with your x why is he still around ...is he bothering you if so you can get help for that .....get a restraining order ........it sounds like you feel like you don't have control of your life and the not eating and not looking after your hair is somthing you can controll You need to talk and get things out you need to tell your counclors just how you are doing so they can help you you might need your meds adjusted....many try to spend some good time with your little brother ......find a hobie. Somthing creative ....live one day at a time and don't miss the small things a sun rise a flower .. A butterfly .. Learn to see the what is good inside of you ..I will keep you in my prayers.
