This is causing me anxiety but I think spending a lot of money that I don't have on nothing would be bad too. It is making some kind of a low hollow grinding noise sometimes maybe near the wheels? It is a 96 saturn with 80,400 miles.

You'll find many discussion groups that have boards dealing with the above. You'll need to register, use what user name and e-mail address you like, and then post a question in the forum under the model you have. You'd be surprised how many response from legit mechanics you'd get. They'll tell you what the most likely problem is, what to expect and general costs, depending on the area.
