Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I had my 16th birthday yesterday and had a sleepover with my friends, or who I think are my friends.l
None of the people there really spoke to me at all, except of of necessity. The rest of the time they were all talking to one another and when I tried to strike up a conversation or join one I was ignored or brushed aside. And while we were proceeding with lighting and candles and such many if the others were on their phones and half mumbling the "happy birthday" song.
And to top this off one of my closest friends was unable to make it, which I can understand, but when I asked why she hesitated before saying lsomething about forgetting to ask her mother. Not more than 10 minutes later I could hear her talking about the Halloween party she went to last night. I'm not mad that she had some prior engagement, but I thought that we were closer than that she felt she needed to lie to me.
To say that all this hurt me is an understatement. I must've spent half the day and my bed crying. The only person I'm angry at is myself for being so desperate to have friends that I invited strangers to what was supposed to be my sweet 16.

there are a lot of people out there who feel lonely too, if that helps... You arent alone.
See it as a learning experience. Now you know who will be really there for you. A true friend is hard to find. Keep making friends and keep looking for your true friend.
You have to stay strong in times like these.
Maybe they're right. Maybe these people don't care. They sound awful, and you certainly deserve better than them. They're toxic, they're indirectly hurting you and that's not okay. You should tell them.
If anything comes up, you should leave them. Find other people to talk to. Easier said than done, but these people won't do you anything good. Find something better than them. Talk to the friend that went to the other party instead. Maybe she had a reason for lying to you, and tell her that you just want her to be honest with you. Work things out. You don't have to give up.
you care about. Maybe you can make some better friends
there.
