Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I really lucked out. After my insurance dropped my old therapist, I could not really find a new one. I called my university and they provide therapy and I will not have to pay for it! I really lucked out. We had one phone consult and even though I am an online student they say I can only do therapy by phone, but she was able to set it up for me to see her in person. I know it sounds silly when I say it looks like the perfect therapist for me, but her office had a really great vibe, it made me feel hopeful. She was super professional and knowledgable, she understood me and my diagnosis and my situation to the core. So hard for me to find. I felt affirmed and supported and I feel like I have a strategy to solve the problems that I face. I know it sounds silly when I say I feel like the stars aligned, but sometimes in life it works out that way. I felt like I have hope for overcoming the dilemmas that I am facing, and I think really one of my biggest enemies is me. It's easy to think that the crappy people in our lives are the ones causing us harm but at the end of the day I think it goes deeper than that. I feel very lucky and I had a much better day today. After the therapy session I was able to complete all the responsibilities on my list, when typicallly if I sink into depression I don't complete things. So much better than the one that was laughing all the way through the session, didn't believe how I felt, and couldn't remember appointments. I feel thankful.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
It took me 5 therapists to find the one that I "clicked" with, and who I felt the most comfortable talking about anything and everything. I am always honest in therapy.
But... she retired, and I have been talking to her replacement. Not as good, but we do talk weekly by phone (hoping to meet her in person soon, but she lives pretty far away) and I think therapy is so helpful because you can tell them anything and everything, and they give you an outside opinion. I feel like their opinions are less biased than say from a friend or family member.
Great to hear and good luck with the new therapist!
a great match. Having that connection is so important.
My therapist retired about a year ago. I did find someone
new. Unfortunately our connection seems to be lukewarm. She's not unskilled or uncaring, I just don't feel that we are the best fit.
So good to hear that you lucked out!
