Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

so some know i battle with bipolar and am very depressive, coupled with my separation that im 5 months in.... its been a nightmare, ive tried killing my self 5 times in the past so me thinking it is nothing new. slowly ive come to realize that getting my wife back will probably never happen, ive done bad things to her and im seeing this new better me is probably too late.
recently i found out that through my insurance im able to get therapy at their cost, plus rides to and from, this past thursday was 3 weeks.
therapy has lifted my spirits a bit, though i have shot my self in the foot, you see as qualified as my therapist is and can handle my problems according to the bios and such and is close to me and takes my insurance and such, i boneheadedly also picked my therapist on looks, i thought... what the hell, maybe have a pleasing person to talk to too.
3 seesions later, the pleasing aspect turned to, im very attracted to her, physically she is what id call beautiful, ive learned a bit about her and i want to know much more, shes not married or engaged, i make her laugh, though im sure others do as well, she has tattoos i like, dark haired and, well i could go on and on lol, yes im very interested in her.
now i know theres no way i can date her and still have therapy, im not looking for that, nor am i at therapy for a date, therapy is really helping me. however, im growing more and more eager to learn more about her and give the hyperthetical question "if i werent your client, would you ever like to hang out to maybe get to know each other better?"
so im putting all this out there cause id like to hear from the good people of DS
please if all you are going to do is say therapy isnt a dating site or whatever, please move on, ive already stated im not there for that and if anything could happen between me and her, id seek out another therapist right away.

I hope you'll take a...
Your thinking is what i had come to believe all men did grasp. That unless I (or any other woman) was a 25 year old size 6 . For those of us not that lucky, who already struggled with low self esteem....we would feel like worthless garden slugs.
It is kinda sad really. For you and others who base everything on how someone looks.....you do miss out on meeting and getting to know ALOT OF VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE WITH LOTS TO OFFER. With me being beaten down over the years, I have been fortunate enough to work through alot of crap. I am happy to say that I do try like hell to get to know a person (inside and out) and can often find alot of good in people.
Too bad you will miss that.
(I'm developing feelings towards you.)
And look towards getting a male therapist.
I figured the same myself as I was reading your post. You would be smitten with her.
Although I don't agree with her thoughts on looks.
Study after study has shown both sexes prefer good looks.
And studies show when a man has lots of money, a woman will pick the photo of a rich unattractive man over the good looking poorer man.
Psychologically, due to wanting a good provider for any future kids.
I used to be a floor manager in a Casino. Never did I see men, when tipping. Shove money down a woman's blouse etc.
He would be removed ASAP. Yet many women shoved money in my waist band, pockets, (while they groped) or anywhere. For a man, just as embarrassing.
I was lucky genetically to be considered good looking and well built. But I grew up with zero self esteem.
No one picks an over weight person because they're more jolly.
No one picks a homely person over a beautiful person. Unless its out of pity or they are trying to prove a point.
An attractive person can be just as good at their job as anyone else.
I took two years of Psych. myself. Most people that take psychology do so because of their own childhood pain and trauma.
If I was going to pick from photos. It would be who looks friendly, warm and yes.... attractive too.
I'm forever ready studies about this or that.
He did the normal thing. Though, fantasizing about a future is just that, a fantasy. But..... we all have them.
And time will tell if she's as good for him as we all hope she is.
1..This is a married man who cheated on his wife so much she left him and moved to another State to get away from him. He supposedly is going to Therapy to fix his issues so he can win said wife who is supposed to be the "love of his life" who he misses soooo much back.
2. In his last thread on this Board he states he picked this Therapist because she is pretty and he wanted one who is nice to look at, for which, as with most of his Threads, dozens of people basically called him a pig and told him how wrong and gross it was.
Now he's got people going again because as we all knew he would, he now wants to date said pretty Therapist.
Guess the wife just got forgotten about.
Does anyone but me see a pattern of "Attention Seeking Behavior" and posts that are just not seeming quite realistic anymore. This is insane, I can't believe I got sucked into wasting this much time and energy. I'm out, y'all have fun.
People can change minds too.
He already stated, he might as well forget his wife coming back. Its been nearly six months.
I told him that, several posts back...
My comment on how I DID think all men thought ....only seeing very attractive, well slapped together women and never noticing those of us not as fortunate, more plain or with all our flaws was the norm.... I have come to know there are others who do as I do now. Get to know and understand the inside as well as the outside.
I have struggled with low self esteem and have to try twice as hard to make an impression, show myself to be competent, be heard and not overlooked or discounted. (I am the one who does often feel like that garden slug.....not saying anyone said that)
@Seamus..... I do also believe you are right about the Psychology background. The counselors and therapists that I did come in contact with over the years did also have their own stories with dysfunction as well. Truthfully, had i ever been confident or financially able enough, I would have done so myself. For me it wasn't in the cards. So instead I do try to simply observe, listen and try to share and reach out to others who are also struggling.
Nightfire...it was not my intention to come off judgemental, but just state my opinion on what i read.
ive got my self in a little mess here and truth be told, in the back of my mind i want to tell her that "ill need to be seeing another therapist because the fact is id like to take you to go get some coffee or a drink and hangout"
and of course her accept and so on, though reality will hit and ill just hint at it and she feel the need to help me with this problem too.
