Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Those are your words, RockN. My question to you is this: Are YOU treating YOURSELF the way YOU want to be treated? If you aren't, then others won't either.
You can make changes with yourself first. If you're overweight, you can work at losing some of it, just a little at a time. Confidence and loving yourself is what I think you need at this point, not a man to love you; that comes later, after you work on loving yourself.
Good luck to you. I wish you all the best!
But I'll tell you this, most people don't really have the love you think they do. A great loving relationship is really rare in this world. I see so many people who want love, most everybody, but so few who actually have it. Why is it, that in a world full of people that love is the one thing they really crave the most, that there is not an abundance of it? Look at all the other crap people crave and there is an abundance of. Drugs, guns, violence. You would think that if they would want love, there would be loads of it. I think it is because love is not to get, love is to give. It is only here if you give, yet everyone only thinks about getting it. Love is a thing that the more you give away, the more there is. Not an easy idea in a capitalistic, consumer society.
Now I may sound like I am going off on a gloomy tangent here, but I am not. I don't see this as gloomy at all. The truth is that if you really want love, you can have it. It is not about giving things to get love. Not about sleeping with guys and then they will love you. It is about giving love. Just giving. Did you ever notice that the people you know who are very loving, that give love freely, get tons in return. And I don't mean by being loving, you are having sex with people. Or having physical contact at all. Love is patience, understanding, calm and forgiveness. Love is giving someone space to be themselves. Space for their pain. A so called hot chick, banging a so called cool looking has nothing to do with love. Oh sure, believe the fairytales in the movie theaters. Believe what MTV and the worlds next hottest guy that sleeps with woman contest they show you on tv, the unreality shows. If that stuff is so true, why are not more people in love and it is real, true love. Look around and see what is really going on. Fuck all those beautiful people in the fashion ads. So misleading, just for a buck.
But again, love is available to us all. We make it, we give it away. Not make it like sex, but make it like make time for a friend. Make space for someone's pain. Make a place to let people be. Make time to take care of yourself. Don't say negative things about yourself. Give love to yourself. Love regardless. Don't give away your body, you mind or you principals. Just love. kindness. Don't give in to discontent. Don't spread discontent. Love has to flow out, not in. At least having it flow out is all we can do.
And any man who thinks your fat and ugly, and that is all they see, they are not going to ever love you. They are not giving love out. We are awash in people who only see the surface and who are caught up in superficial stuff. Yet, deep down, they really all want the love. And there are people out there who will love you like you want. The way loving people find each other is by the signal they send out. The love they send out. There is a way to be loving toward people without giving yourself away. Just sit and listen to someone. Really listen to them. That is a great thing. Make time for someone, just to listen to them. Maybe you think what I am saying is wishy washy. But what else is there to real love? What is it like to have real love? Is someone wants and desires you with all their heart and yet you do not feel the same way, can they ever give you love? If the love is inside them for you, there is no way the can even give it to you, unless you want it. Unless you are open and giving. But this is just my opinion, am i even remotely right?
I was married 3.5 years to a bitter, frustrated, mean-spirited woman. Marriage is NOT all that it is cracked-up to be.
I hate cliches, but this one is true: the grass DOES look greener from the other side. And, be careful what you wish for.
There are tons of folks trapped in meaningless, negative relationships and marriages who wish they had your freedom and independence.
Take an inventory and celebrate the great things that "singlehood" allows you to enjoy.
The meaningful, long-term relationships I've had in my 46 years were NEVER predicated on my appearance. They ALWAYS were based on my character, not my face or my waistline, and any future, long-term relations will be based on the SAME CRITERIA.
