Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

during the day I feel just fine. I can focus my mind on staying positive and not straying towards depressing thoughts but come evening.....its like all of my shields crumble and I'm left to face my demons all through the night. I've made it a habit to meditate for half and hour before bed to keep me calm but that hasnt been working this past week. Does anyone have any tips on how to fall asleep soundly while keeping anxiety and panic attacks at bay?

Try journaling about everything that's bothering you. You can journal here and keep it as a draft just for yourself if you want. Empty out all your feelings and thoughts that you're battling . Picture emptying them all out so that you're ready to sleep.

I read before bed, it calms me and slows down all the things that I am thinking about. I hope you can get some good sleep tonight.

Sorry you're going through this. When I have my anxiety and depression stages it's the opposite. Days are awful and I start to relax at night. Have you tried taking melatonin 30 minutes before bed?

I listen to ASMR videos on YouTube. Very relaxing and calming. They can put me to sleep in a matter of minutes some nights. Give those a try.

If I feel like my mind is racing when I try to go to sleep I also try to read. Sometimes it works, If I am thinking about the great story I was reading as I drift off instead of all the million things I was worrying about. I will also get up and journal it out if the reading doesn't work. Hugs
