Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Moods are terrible things. We all get them. You'll be fine. ☺
So, try not to be so down on yourself. At work if things seem to be overwhelming and the mistakes start coming, do some Deep Breathing exercises and let your mind clear. Deep Breaths in through your nose, hold for 15 - 20 seconds, while clearing your mind, push everything from it and just concentrate on the breathing. Close your eyes and just do the Deep Breathing and clear your mind for about 5 minutes. Then start back at a slower but steady pace. Don't rush through things, going at a slower but steady pace with a clearer mind helps you not make mistakes. If negative crap tries to push it's way back in, pull your 'goto good thoughts" in.
Goto Good Thoughts are memories of a happy or pleasant or calm time. A family vacation that was really good. A trip to a beautiful place where you felt calm and relaxed. A song or uplifting phrase from a book that helps center you and put your mind in a good place. If you picture your mind as a large file cabinet, with several drawers, each bit of data has its own drawer. Bad data has a drawer. Goto Good Thoughts each have a drawer, however many you have. Deep Breathing Exercises have a drawer, Relaxation Exercises have a drawer......I think you get it now.
When you feel something coming into your conscious thought that you don't want to be there, stop what your doing, relax yourself and picture yourself physically opening the drawer in your mind and putting those thoughts away. The open the drawer that you want to think about and pull those thoughts into your mind. You can actively change your awareness and thinking. It just takes a little practice. The key is getting yourself to relax so that you can change your thoughts and awareness.
So, don't be so hard on yourself, winter is a hard time of year for Depression, but you can have Springtime and Summer in a File Drawer and use those thoughts or memories.
Take a Vitamin D Supplement is also a good idea. The best is natural Vitamin D from the Sunshine, if you can take 2 or 3 short 15 minute walks in the sunshine each day, that can help a lot. Vitamin B12 boosts your energy and brain, and Vitamin C keeps you healthy.
I hope your seeing a Therapist for your Depression, it can make a big difference in being able to get to a point of stability, and that's always the key.
Take care, and I hope that things look up for you soon.
