Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
so let me tell U a little about my experience and you will C why my first reply is actually a positive response....
When I came to my sense's or rather realized something was amiss I was just about to press the trigger. plain and simple.
I knew something was wrong BUT didn't know what. I typed in depression in the search bar and found this place. I actually found this board but i didn't know how to post so I just read for a few days till I figured it out.... DEEEP dark waters I was in, uncharted.... All I could do was just get as many drugs/downers/pain pills as I could and chase them down with vodka/beer/whiskey... U name it I did it just to keep myself fucked up. All this while wall street was crashing and noway to fill the family coffers so I did more.....and no one was charging me for the pills or booze.. they just gave me the shit cuz they knew something was wrong. My friends in real life, well some of them turned out to be real patient with me and some bailed. That was in '08 now its '12 and If I live long enough I will have been here four years....
Things did turn around. I view life so much different than before '08. It seems as if the dark waters have abated BUT the hanker'n for pills and booze? They are my constant reminder of where I have journeyed..... mile posts of where I have been.....
I'm not saying this approach will work for you. It was ill advise to myself BUT there are good people here at DS and the offer good advise. Hell alot of them are in therapy and are quite knowledgeable as to what is happening.....
So ride the waves of depression because It can't be escaped BUT it seems one can out last it...IF.... it really is outlast-able....
I exercise almost daily. It really helps with the lows when I dig in, find those reservoirs of anger (and strength) within me, and push against the resistance of weight and distance, and win. Helps with that "woe is me" feeling.
Be kind to yourself. You can make it through this. Things will ALWAYS change, luckily for even these moments.
We're here, mal.

I'm an up and downer. But exercise and a positive attitude have helped. If you feel like you are sinking then maybe you need to see your doctor for a med change? And do keep track of your life, and see the things that need to be changed, and change them.
Love the avatar, by the way.
I expend so much energy just surviving/tolerating each day that there's no positive energy left to motivate/push me for changing. Wish I had something to drive/push me so I can at least get some inertia behind me. If how things are now is how they will continue to be, I won't make it - that's a fact...
