Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'd consider myself a success story. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 8 years old. I've had my lows, extremes lows, where I thought I'd be better off dead. But you know, as much as I believed it at the time I wasn't thinking about the possibilities that existed just beyond that looming dark cloud. I can say that I lived through hell for 20 years and have come out on the other side a happier, healthier, more positive person. Sure, I have my bad days, but they don't last. THEY DON'T LAST! It really CAN get better if you're willing to fight for something better.
I'm getting married in May and couldn't be happier. My daughter is healthy, my attitude at work has improved, I've reconnected with family members, been able to trust without suspicion, have a great group of new friends... the list goes on and on. Once I decided that I deserved better, and took the steps to make it happen, I got it! Can it happen overnight, no. It's an ongoing process. But one day can make all the difference...the day you change yourself forever.
Hope this gives you some hope. : )
