Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Ok, Anti depressants make for POOR sleep aids. Doctors say they make you sleepy, but that is typically a side-effect they have been working to REMOVE for years. Tri-cyclic antidepressants had LOTS of side effects, the SSRI's have much less side effects.
NOTHING, anti anxiety, anti depressants, pain killers, sleep aids.. none of them work on me so i'm typically awake for 2 days then sleep for 14-16 hours.
Not to be a salesman (because i'm NOT affiliated with this in any manner), i have to say that "Hemi-Sync" music helps me get to sleep when i'm struck with massive insomnia. You have to listen to it on headphones tho, it has different tones that go in each ear that cause a resonance inside your head. You can look up the music on youtube i'd bet and try it out. I have several of those CD's. It's more than relaxation music.. read about it..
He has tried many different medications and is currently on 200 MG of Seroquel at bedtime and he takes Clonazepam as needed to help him sleep.
There are nights that he feels like he didn't even take his meds and he just doesn't sleep. He has been dealing with this for years.
I was having problems sleeping but my doctor has me on Seroquel & Clonazepam and I take Unisom at bedtime. This has been working for me for months now. I am just waiting for the day I have to change everything up again because I usually go every few months with doing good with sleeping to only sleeping 4-5 hours.
Have you tried any other over the counter other than melatonin?
