Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi everyone,
For the umpteenth time I realize that I tend to be very quiet on the boards, but like what I tried to do for another user this feels very urgent and as a friend of hers I believe in my heart that I must mention this.
My friend immarcie needs hugs and support from us right now. Without spilling too much in the way of details -- because I forgot to ask for her permission first (stupid me) -- her grandson, who is all of 13 years old, apparently has a birth defect that has recently manifested into something bad. It appears that he will not have an appointment until tomorrow at the earliest and meanwhile he is bedridden...from my understanding it was two years ago this month that this same grandson had to undergo a triple bypass.
The grandson's dad, needless to say, is distraught beyond description, and so is she. I think her journal regarding this is public if anybody wants to see it. I want her to know that we'll be there for her...I know I will be.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?
I pray you won't get in trouble with DS for posting this since mystie also posted a similar request very recently..
One thing I need to clear up though, it was my son that had the triple bypass in 2012, not the grandson. We very nearly lost him at that time.
I was able to find out what the medical term is for this birth defect based on what my son described to me, it is called "Pectus excavatum"
If I am correct, it will be an extremely painful surgery and very painful few days post op. Apparently he will need narcotic pain meds for a short time as well:(:(
Daisy and Blue Yonder Dreams, my sincere thanks to you as well for your compassion. I will be sure to tell my son about you kind folks.
Peace and blessings be with you all.....

sending good vibes his way cuz I have broke my sternum twice and man IT HURT!
If you watched the video, you can see what they'll be doing.
I haven't had the heart to tell my son what I've learned, he's already terrified about what the child is going to go through:(:( They had to break just his sternum for the triple bypass and that hurt for a very long time:(:(
They finally did get an appt. for this coming Fri,, with a cardiologist
hopefully to find out if/how bad the heart has been affected from this and proceed from there.
Thank you for your kind concern, I appreciate you and everyone who has reached out to us during this awful time.
Peace be with you all.....
Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he doesn't have too much pain and they give him some good pain killers.
Anxiously awaiting the news from the doctor tomorrow.
