Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm not doing so well. This has been going on for awhile with no end in sight. I saw my therapist yesterday and it was not a good session. Fortunately, I hope, I have a session with a new therapist on Monday. I do hope that goes better. I'm depressed, anxious, and lonely. I've had arthritis in my left knee that seems to be getting worse and the pain never goes away. The meds don't seem to work anymore. I have very little ambition. My apartment needs to be cleaned up and I have no motivation to do that. Or anything. I miss the days when I had a cat. I could have one where I live but they want a $300 deposit plus $10 added to the rent each month. Social Security screwed up yesterday, not giving me the amount of money they said they would in the benefit letter. I called them and hopefully that will be straightened out. They cut my food stamps from $250 to $20 a month. I was found ineligible for assistance with my electric bill. I can't control the thermostat in my apartment and it's always 68 degrees. So I invested in space heaters. And I'm not allowed to apply for LIHEAP because technically, heat is included in the rent.
I wish I felt like moving right now. My application for Section 8 that I applied for 6 months ago finally came through. I'd have to find my own place to live and there was a time when I felt up to that. I don't feel like looking for a place to live right now. I don't have my car anymore and I miss it alot.
I don't know what to do. I'm feeling pretty hopeless that things will ever get better.
I just had to share that. Maybe someone will be able to identify with me and I won't feel so alone.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

One of the peers on DS recently said: feel the sadness but don't let the sadness control your life. That's what I've been doing lately feeling my feelings and then living my life knowing that no situation is permanent. As long as we are on the planet we have a chance to move forward. Your courage to post sparks me to now look for the light of hope. Keep moving forward (gentle hug)
I know it's hard, but just being grateful for the good things in your life you can find that alone really helps a lot. Look, I had 2 brain tumor surgeries, and I had seizures all while I was the single mother of an infant daughter, and I couldn't even work and was getting denied a lot from SSD. Over the many years, everything came together and me and my daughter are fine now. Not exactly where we want to be, but we are fine. Life is so full of ups and downs, and, unfortunately, we get a lot of downs, but those too shall pass. Good luck, write whenever you want.
