Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

IT WILL LIFT YOUR SPIRITS AND MAKE U FEEL BETTER.

You are close to suicide, and the closer to suicide you are, the more negative spin you put on everything that happens around you and the narrower the set of options you think you have for your life. To walk away from suicide you have to change the way you view the world, and the way you analyse events.
So you have to shift from 'counselling hasn't worked' to 'it hasn't worked yet'. And when you say that you can see that one session isn't going to change the world... but that it is a sensible direction to go in. A better direction than the one you're going in right now.
It's good that you feel worse after your first appointment. But that goes. It's like popping a pimple maybe. It hurts, sure. But then it releases some pretty horrible pressure you were enduring. And it can empty out, and heal. Without the popping, there is no healing.
And when you start to experience the healing, it so far outweighs the popping that you can absolutely revel in it.
But at the start, all you're experiencing is the pain of the squeezing, and you don't know what the outcome of it will be. Have faith in the process, buy into the process, tell the absolute truth in counselling and let it all come out, and the counsellor can then start to take you through the process of analysis in a way that will have a good outcome for you. It's going to be painful, and uncomfortable. And absolutely worth it.
at 35 took a bottle of prescription sleeping pills. Landlord came in my apt, found me and called 911. I was almost gone when they got me to the hospital and pumped my stomach.
I hung myself in the bathroom with a new leather belt 3 years ago. As I started to slip away the belt broke and I fell to the floor, nearly broke my ankles (didn't) and didn't die.
This year I bought 3 space heaters. I sealed my apartment, turned all three on and turned my gas oven on at the same time. My love of my life died so I wanted to join him on Valentines Day.
My next door neighbor decided to bring me a bouquet of flowers that day, and got my landlord when I didn't answer the door - I was apparently unconscious. Another trip to the hospital.
I don't know what to tell you. I planned, executed and failed every one of my attempts. It has cost me a lot of money, pain, embarrassment and I was so angry at God for letting me live when I had wanted to die more than anything.
I don't know why I'm still here but I'm not going to do anymore suicides because I figure no matter what I do if its not my time I won't succeed. If its my time I could trip on a throw rug, hit my head and bleed out like my dear departed love did. It was his time, though I wish it wasn't.
I have no one who cares about me in my life anymore. I want to go but yet I stay. There are good days and bad days. My counselor has helped me find little reasons to wake up every day. One is all I need. I like pizza. That's it. But it's enough for now. I literally live for pizza. Hopefully you can find something more meaningful than pizza to live for but it works for me...
Don't consider this a failure consider it as a chance to reach out and find the will to live. Be honest with someone that is physically available to you!
I stumbled back across this post TODAY..exactly one month after the last reply...
Thank you all for your concern and replies...
Unfortunately...I am still here...not thinking much about suicide since I have been crazy busy for the last 3 to 4 weeks...but ...
If I do take the time to 'think'...I still would rather die...Life here on earth just seems so dead anyway...there is really no happiness in my life...I can't do anything right...and I just have setback behind setback...I have failed at life...and I don't think anyone can convince me otherwise...
Anyway...thanks again for the replies....
I am going to bed now...hopefully I will get some sleep! Good Night!

I just spoke to a young woman with kids who had suicide ideation and had been in the hospital for 2 months. I understand suicide ideation and depression (they go hand in hand). Occasionally I have a good day and thank god for that but then I go back to that giving up thinking.
I'm not happy about life and am very much alone in it. It scares me; so do the suicidal thoughts. I'm adopting a kitten a year later after my beloved cat passed away. He, alone, gave me reason to live; I always told people that when he passed away, I'm going with him. I just didn't expect him to die as early as he did.
The willl to live is strong which I believe is why you are still here and struggling with wanting to die. I don't I know you, but I understand what you are feeling and can only say, keep waiting until the next day. Life is short; may as well finish the journey.
