Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My depression has been affecting my job attendance and probably also to some degree my performance for a few weeks now. I am trying to work on medication and myself in order to feel better and return to my "normal". My manager and supervisor have both said I still perform well and do good work. The supervisor, however, dropped a few weeks ago that she tells other staff members that I know more than they give me credit for after they apparently state that I am stupid and incompetent. It's the first time I've heard of multiple people expressing this. There is one woman at work that openly discussed my stupidity and incompetence where I could hear it. But in the two years I've been there, it never occurred to me that others felt the same. Today my supervisor said again that she has to defend me from the staff because of the negative things they say. First off, I was handling the woman who was talking badly about me myself. The issue was resolved and she has left me alone for the most part. Secondly, my supervisor told me that she and my manager "spoke to" this woman since she seems to be bringing my mood down at work. Honestly, sometimes she does. But I never intended for her to know that or for anybody to intervene on my behalf. I never thought I needed to be defended until my supervisor told me so. Why is she telling me that multiple people dislike me, say negative things about me but that she then has to defend me? I didn't need to know any of that. Nor did she and the manager need to speak to this other woman. The thought that I am generally disliked at work makes me even more depressed than I am and I have been crying a lot. I don't know how to stop thinking about the situation. It keeps going round and round in my head. How do I cope? I've tried distracting activities but they don't distract me at all. I just fumble the activity while I ruminate on this situation. Should I resign? I don't want to work where people dislike me!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

What kind of supervisor is that???
To me it seems sooo unprofessional
It seems like she's trying to create drama
If she is that comes from something inside her and really has nothing to do with you
If I were you I would work with your doctor on finding stability
If you're struggling at work right now I would ask for a note to take some sick time if you need it
I think what this supervisor is doing seems really off and unprofessional
Some people just seem to like to start nonsense
Don't let her
Another big hug...Don't let her mess with you sweetie
Focus on getting well...xo
People with a couple of personality disorders may do it and there's quite a bit on the net about it
Again IF she's doing this it's not about you it's about who SHE is
Hang on for a while and take good care of you...xo
The supervisor is someone who doesn't shy away from even small amounts of conflict. To me, it also seems like she is trying to come across as my only friend in the whole world who is looking out for me against every other single human being who just happens to hate me.
.
Most often splitting is a personality disorder
I would go to work
If you see her smile and say hi and vo about your day
You don't have to play into this at all
I don't think your supervisor is giving you any kind of silent treatment right now. It's a holiday weekend, and she might just prefer to not talk about work during the holiday.
When you show up at work Tuesday, just do your job. Try not to get in the middle of the work drama. Obviously you are doing a good job, if your supervisor thinks so. The other women might just be causing drama or are jealous of you (as posted above, too). Don't let them bring you down to their petty, silly level. You do your work on Tuesday and don't even try to talk to the supervisor just yet. She might still be thinking about what the best course of action should be.
I have worked at places with these "cliques" and it's very annoying! But if you like your job, then you hang in there. Things will get better.
You don't have to be friends with everyone at work or even like everyone. Those women will sink their own ships if they choose to be petty and mean.
Let us know next week how it's going there.
