Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I want to close my eyes never to open them and see the light of day again. I can't enjoy life and I am a single mom to 3 beautiful children that see me suffer and that makes me hurt more. I don't have the guts to off myself or I would have done it very long ago. I've lived so long with the hell and misery within myself I don't know how much more I cam endure. I pray at night not for help to cope but for death

That is a big thing to ask. What's going on?

Up until a year ago I felt the EXACT same way you do, and I felt that way for several yrs. I couldn't kill myself, but I self-medicated myself so much and I called my bed my coffin. PLEASE...PLEASE...seek help any way you can. I borrowed money from family and flew to another state to see a well-known pdoc.....and he IS the reason I am alive today or didn't take off and abandon my husband and 4 yr old child. Go to nami.org and find the suicide hotline for your state and CALL! Go to anyone, anyone, that will listen. Get on your knees and pray to God. Don't let go.

I have so much going on this goes back for many many years. The only 'family' that I have that I feel I can turn to is my best friend but she can't completely relate to everything I've been through and she.has a family of her own she doesn't need my burdens I have no siblings, my mom is passed and my dad rarely speaks to me. I'm on medication for depression and anxiety but it doesn't always work and switching it really is no use. I've been on so many different kid.dd of medicine its unbelievable. I just feel completely lost lonely sad and alone.

It's a lot to have going on at once. I agree with gumbigirl, you have to seek help, you're worth it and your kids deserve to have you in their lives. I know that you said you're on meds, have you gotten any help through therapy? For me that was more important then the medication. Please keep hanging in there! ((hugs))

I jumped from doctor to doctor until I found THE ONE that had the education and experience to find the right med for me. To me therapy didn't help at all until the chemical imbalance in my brain was taken care of. Maybe you should look for another doctor, even out of state. Call the Mayo Clinic, The Meadows in AZ, or NAMI. Tell them your situation and if they can't help you they will guide you in the right direction. Or call the psych hospitals in your area and ask them for help and tell them you need care for your children. Hang on minute for minute. I've gone to AA meetings and the 12 steps help a lot when it comes to depression.
