Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My great aunt died, and because of this I lost my job. Well, it is not quite that simple. My mother is my manager at the store I worked at, and when our supervisor told her we could not have off for the memorial, she walked out. This left me jobless. I am doing my best to see this as a positive thing, that a supervisor like that is better to be rid of... but it has been very lonely in this house all day. I am looking for another job, but the search has been slow. We will see where this leads.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

By all means, go for your mother and grandmother. As I think back, I do not recall there being a service for any of my grandparents, none that I was invited to. I wish I had, now that I think about it. It would have given me more of a guide when it came to my parent's service.
Do what comes naturally, as long as it is not disrespectful of the wishes of the family. I think in the long run you will be glad that you went.
Gentle hugs
ThePepperMan They decided not to do a memorial service, instead just doing a sort of informal get-together, since we figured it would be easier for those involved (more along the lines of what she would have wanted), but I really feel for her husband.
The entire thing was just a terrible situation. She had a brain tumor, benign, and it was removed. A terrible thing happened. She got better. There was all this hope and happiness, and then she wasn't. Complications in the surgery created swelling and lesions in her brain, and she went downhill fast. My grandmother is... bad... at figuring out how to handle things, so she's been leaning on my mother and her sister, and my mother cried for the first time in... oh... ever? I had to yell at her until she finally broke down and let herself lean on me too. My family has always had problems with being out of control, like, not being able to control things, and my mother was in a far worse place than I was. I had my own problems with it, involving the fact that I always told myself that even if I didn't mind when pets that I loved died, I would feel something if a family member died... and then one did... and I didn't. Thank you depression, for removing me from myself so much that I can't even feel sad about people I know dying.
