Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm a terrible mom. I want to be a good mom but it's just too hard. I can't do this. I can't even take care of myself----how can I take care of a 13 year old child with Asperger's and ADHD. Someone should just take him from me and find him the home and family that he deserves. Not that I want to give him up, but I just want what's best for him. And I don't think I can be the one to determine what's best for him since I am so sick. I try and try but it's never enough. He needs therapy and I sent his old therapist an e-mail tonight asking him if we could start having therapy with him again. I hope and pray he says yes. Sometimes I get so angry at him and start yelling at him and then I feel so guilty afterward. After all, he's trying as hard as he can. It's not his fault for getting bad grades at school. He's trying so hard. I just can't hold this in any more. I can't pretend any more. This is so hard and I just don't want him to suffer any more because of my incompetence. I wish someone could just tell me what to do and have the answers for me since I can't seem to figure them out for myself. I am so lost and so confused. I don't want to be a bad mom any more. I want to be a good mom who can take care of her child. I don't know if that's ever going to happen though. A few weeks ago I actually threw a book at him and called him an "ingrateful shit". I couldn't believe I said that to him!!! I guess now you all know what kind of person I really am. I'm not supportive and all that good stuff that I might seem to be. I'm a bad person and a bad mom. My son deserves better than me.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
There is a world of difference between needing more in order to do well and just being a bad person/bad mom.
You are human and the demand on you is tremendous.
With that, . I think you need to seek support for yourself ... regarding the matter. Talk to a professional about the challenge .. and how to lighten the load.
You need help with this .... seek and ye shall find.

The above link has a whole section for Moms parenting Aspies. Go there and search on Asperger's in their search box.
And you are NOT a bad person.
Being a mom is the hardest job in the world. Being a good mom occurs when we try our best. That's all we can do........ try our best.
A 13 year old son is VERY volatile. Whether he has Aspergers or ADD or he's dealing with friends and teachers and GIRLS!!!!!!!
The fact that you WANT to be a Good Mom MAKES you A Good Mom.
PS when Noel was little I threw a lamp not at her but it ended up on her side of the room. I know now that it was just overwhelming stress and depression. I don't justify my throwing the lamp but I did use it as a reminder NEVER to do it again. It worked for me.
Your not a bad mom
