Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Do you ever feel like you can't excape yourself? I mean the devil on your shoulder that sways your decisions to the negative side. I truly feel that my depression is just another full time job I have to deal with. It is so hard to silence that little devil, harder lately. I am pregnant 19 weeks (2nd child) I am a homemaker and I stay home with our 3 year old while my finance works. I am living 90 miles away from my family and have a couple people I can call friends. But my friends and family really aren't here for me. I do just about everything on my own. I don't get to socialize with anyone except my 3 year old. When my fiance comes home from work I feel at times he is only concerned with his phone, couch and tv. I know he worked all day but so did I. Not to menation he doesn't get home until about 7pm every night and has to be in bed no later then 11pm. So I get 4 hours a night to have adult conversation, which most of it is consumed by him being on his phone, TV or me cooking dinner. We barely are intimate anymore. I feel like he doesn't want to be with me anymore. I try to stay positive but then I have to battle that little devil on my shoulder telling me he is cheating or staying at work just to avoid me. My defense's are so damaged that I believe the little devil when he tells me I am ugly, worthless, gross and that everyone would be better off without me. I was first diagnosed with depression when I was like 14 or 15 years old which now at age 30 is half of my life. People who don't suffer everyday don't know what this is like and easily dismiss me, even my fiance. I am so tired and if I didn't have children I would have just given up. I just don't know what to do anymore. I have considered talking to a therapist again but my fiance doesn't get off in time for me to go. I have to get free help.because we cant afford to pay for therapy. I always put myself behind everything else. I know I shouldn't do that but I have been doing it so long I don't know how to change. I know that it is highly unlikely that anyone will read this but if you do I appreciate it and would love to hear some ideas on how to make things better. It is just so bad to the point that even my dreams are tainted with all my greatest fears and I just feel there is no escape...

A tree outside where I live is dying, seemingly from dog urine----with the bully in my building going out his way to not only have his dog urinate there but to have the dog urinate on the fence and sign I bought to try save the tree----and then slide the sign under my apt door.Turns out that was a TRIGGER for me----bullying and humialtion right out of high school. I didn't realize it at the...

I am suffering from the inability to cope with ordinary every day things. From my housework to watching tv or reading a book. I get palpatations, nervousness, at the moment my heart is palpatating and all I am doing is typing this. I am so scared its silly, I just want to stay in bed and just get up for meals and coffee. Not that that is going to happen. At the moment I have my daughter...
congrats on preggers...and hope that all that goes well...for me with someone suggesting drugs while preggers I would say the fear would be passing thru to the unborn child not my own dependency...if I need a med I take it and I have needed one in particular since 1982.....I take it every day still...and would not drop taking it for the world....it keeps me sane from schizophrenia
Heh. That's the difficult bit. ----------------------- (there is no ability to do paragraphs here so I've taken to just doing dashes) --------------- This is time for you to take stock of you. To find you. Yes you're home till 7 every night. That's quite normal, 7 is good actually. As to being tired - yes. Try to arrange activities in the weekend. Also: you HAVE to find groups to join in the day. You have to find the life that you lead in the day. Not the evening. Your husband can't be the cake, he can only be the icing. He's using all his energy up on financial survival, so he needs his home to regenerate. Weekends are a good time for family stuff. --------------------------- try to get a system going. For me it was housework in the morning, activities and visiting in the afternoon. I know my sister was more inclined to visit in the mornings. Something will work for you. Find one group to go to once a week and go... and then find another. ---------------------------- Have you ever wanted to paint? Have you ever wanted to do tai chi? Have you ever wanted to sew, or craft, or anything? What do you have inside of you that you could explore and develop? Who are you, when you take away the mother and the wife, who are you, what is her name, what does she like doing? Are you doing any of that?----------------------- Men may come and go. Children will even come and go. Your kids will leave home; what will you have left? Are you qualified in any way for a job? Had you thought of doing a university degree? You can just take one paper at a time, by correspondence over the internet. Make sure you are always growing. Go do folkart or permaculture or architecture or sculpture or pottery or ... anything. But do it. It is a priority. YOU ARE YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. If mummy is crashing and burning, who is looking after the baby????
