Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am on disability for mental and physical reasons. I went back into therapy after about 10 years and it's really been a big help. Yesterday, I woke up early and made some coffee. I was in a good mood. Then my best friend told me something that upset me. I couldn't let it go. Then I went for x-rays and then headed to my disabled Aunt's apartment. I guess you could say I had a nervous breakdown in the winter and it was mostly caused by taking care of my Aunt. My Aunt drives me crazy. It is very depressing and annoying to be in her presence. At one point, I wrote to her daughter and told her that I can no longer take care of her mother. But my Aunt still asks me for favors. Yesterday, she wanted me to pick up some yucky sandwiches that she was going to pay for. I never said I would get them. She was very disappointed that I didn't get them. Then, she asked me to clip her nails and tweeze her chin hairs. I have never clipped anyone's nails. I said no to both. She was very upset. I felt really bad but that was out of my comfort zone. Then she asked me to pick her up some black socks for her trip to the doctor next week. I hate shopping. I forgot to mention that she is extremely paranoid. I can't tell you how many people she has accused of stealing. I could go on and on. She sucks the life out of me. Mostly, I am venting. I have backslided. Today I am determined to take my old Christmas tree out to the trash. I put it up for Christmas of 2019 and never took it down. Now it has fallen apart. I'm really down. Thanks for reading.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
You told your aunt's daughter that you could no longer take care of her.
You can't sacrifice your own physical and mental health for hers and her daughter.
Have you thought of letting your cousin know that your aunt continues to ask you for favors, but that you absolutely need her to step up to the plate or your
aunt will be on her own? I sense that if you aren't 100% clear that your aunt's daughter will continue to rely on you. I had a bad day today for different reasons. But honestly, take care of yourself and try to get some rest
