Does anyone else feel this way, im feeling like im useless and dont deserve to live, i dont seem to be able to get the confidence and strength i need, i just wish i was a better person!

It's common with depression. You aren't alone with those feelings. I have felt like I would be better off dead but I have never been suicidal or would put my family through that grief.

Oh, my, yes. I feel like I should be a better person too. It's an uphill battle, but just keep going. Everyone here supports you -- we know what you're going through!

I think everyone feels like that sometimes, and some of us feel that way more often than not. Just the fact that you worry about being a better person shows that you are a pretty good person as-is. : )

really trying to stay strong, i just keep trying to move forward everyday, bad things seem to keep happening to me and i dont seem to cope well, I just dont think its very manly to be feeling this way!

I do. Except for the not deserving to live part. I DO think I should be living, but as to why, where and how...I'm lost on that part.

yea, i get that. im feeling very empty at the moment, but full to bursting point with thoughts and feelings. I'm a terrible person, my family all seem so rude, when we go to family events with all my extended family, they are all the nicest people in the world, and theres me, and my brother and sister, and i feel like we are monsters in comparison

Ive been going through this on and off for 8 years. Im trying to learn to accept that this is one of my biggest challenges to get through in life. We can't help that we get this way. The devil really is good at zapping joy from others. He's done it to me several times but God always wins in my case. Its tough to feel this way and you want it to stop sooo bad. It just takes time. I consider it a series of tests, year after year. Is yours mainly from past experiences or something else?

I think admitting that you feel this way is an incredibly courageous AND manly thing to do! It's so much harder to admit having a problem than not. I know that's something I struggled with for almost ten years before I finally admitted it. Now myself and my family are much happier.

Sometimes it is our duty (are you a Christian?) to serve others instead of being selfish. Making others happy is a great thing, and you should at least feel good about yourself when you do good things for others, do you? I also know that to make others happy, we have to be happy with ourselves first. What kind of insecurities are you dealing with that is causing you to feel this way?

Maybe taking a break for yourself wouldn't be such a bad thing then. I know it's hard to keep moving forward, but you really deserve kudos for getting as far as you have!
