Hello,
I've posted a lot about interviewing for work and getting out of a really toxic job.
I've been searching for six months to little avail, and I finally got two interviews with a major company and it was a grueling week of interviews and test work.
And I still didn't get the job. Apparently the position is on hold and someone internally changed what is required for the position. Apparently the interviewers wanted to hire me on, at least that's what it sounds like.
My work situation is not good and the longer I stick around, the more toxic it gets. I was really thinking this would be the change I needed. I won't lie I'm very upset.
I'm trying to think of the best response to this.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I have also been in several really bad workplace environments. With bad or narcissistic bosses who need lots of hand holding and attention. I worked with this supervisor that all the upper management was afraid of. So she'd demand I not follow agency rules and I'd go to her boss and say this is what my supervisor is saying. The boss would say, no the agency rule is X, follow that. I'll talk to her and then my supervisor would come to me again and demand I not follow the agency rule. I had to start really speaking up to my supervisor and saying no. Which they don't like. I also worked at this place where one of the attorneys would start yelling and screaming and demanding this or that. He was allowed to run the show also. I lived in a small community at the time and could not get another legal office job because the other attorneys local all knew those attorneys I worked for. So hang in there. I still think about the stress of those two jobs. I know you will find a better job.
If you got through all these interviews, think about the confidence in yourself that this has created. They didn't hire you but you have this practice run at interviewing and doing the testing. They liked you enough to make you "run the gauntlet" as I call it. This is a huge plus. Just keep plugging away in the evening at home looking for potential new employers. Remember, you want to interview them and observe and listen to them to make sure this is probably a functional office. This changing things at the last minute on their job requirements sounds dysfunctional if I am being honest with you. You may have dodged a bullet. The future will bring you a new and better job.
