Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am having a hard time coming to terms with my own imperfection today. I feel like I am seeing things pretty clearly, and my failures seem to be center stage. It isn't a terrible sort of day because I do have energy and a vague sense of hope, but my failures are just pounding me in the head and I don't know how to move on from them. And future failures, because I know I will never ever be able to do enough to feel like I'm worth anything! That is panic inducing. I keep pausing to breathe and try to find some positive thread, but BAM! BAM! BAM! those damn thoughts keep assaulting me.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The problem is that we have many things we do as part of being who we are. If we are to be the best at something, then any effort not devoted to that deprives us of that goal. Want to be the best at your work? Then personal relationships must come second. Or third, or last. same sort of statement for no matter what you want to be the best at.
Once I adopted that idea, then balancing my time to be good enough at many things quickly became an issue of who gets to decide what good enough is?
And the best person to decide what is good enough for you is YOU!
Forget perfecting any aspect of life, I feel like I'm failing at just being a decent person! I've got so much shame and guilt. I hate myself so very much and that self hatred feels crippling sometimes. I guess in general I don't let it cripple me, because I do function fairly well every day and manage to get some bare minimum of stuff done. But some days, ugh, it is so very close to the surface.
All of these terrible crimes of yours.
Write them all down. Confront, in your own mind, each of them - ONE BY ONE. Systematically, thoroughly, completely.
Clear your conscience.
Say you're sorry. fix things.
good luck, freeheeler
You need to give yourself a damn good hiding. My mother had a lovely saying, in amongst many things. One day someone said to her 'humility isn't one of your failings'. She said 'of course not, i have no failings'.
My brother piped up 'nobody's perfect' and mum countered with
"I am entirely perfect.
In order to be the perfect human being, all I have to be, is perfectly human."
Now: isn't that worth keeping?
Tell me toomuch. How human are you? 60%? 80%?
Or are you, perchance, 100% human?
Well. You must be perfect then.
:p don't sweat the small stuff!
God Bless!
