Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Yes, I have a diagnosis of major depression and have had inpatient treatment more than once. And yes, I take medication. And yes, I have a caseworker from Mental Health. What I don't have is a sister who by the way is a retired school teacher and supposedly or so I always thought an intelligent person. who understands that it is possible for a person to have these problems I have but NOT be crazy. Yes, that's her opinion. She seriously thinks I am crazy and should be living in a "home" somewhere. Let's see-I live alone, pay my own bills (and on time), do my own shopping, clean my own house, keep up the maintenance on my car, care for my cat, keep my doctor appts, I do everything for myself!!!! Oh, and I also am capable enough to know she is a very toxic person in my life and that's why I removed her from my life 4 months ago. So maybe that's why now she feels the need to talk about me to everyone. Maybe I should find some literature on mental illness and depression and send her to educate her.

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

Ugh my depression is really being triggered by the grief of losing my mom. Ugh it sucks. I wish this pain would leave me already.

or not.
toxic people like that only weight us down, i've learnt that now and she's recently removed herself from my life due to my "selfishness" (she hasn't bothered to research mental illness and especially depression at all, she just assumes i'm attention-seeking).

If you feel like your ship is sinking,
it might be a good time to throw out the stuff that;s been weighing it down.
Let go of people who bring you down, and surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you.
When faced with senseless drama, spiteful criticisms, and misguided opinions
walking away is the best way to stand up for yourself.
To respond with anger is an endorsement of their attitude.
