Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi everyone,
I don't have much specific to say, except that I've been busy doing intensive outpatient treatment for the past while. I really needed some focused help. Unfortunately the therapist quit in the middle of it, but that is OK, I feel like I did all the work I could. I made some major changes during that time, things are quite different in a lot of ways now. I still keep in touch with and meet up for peer support with the people I met there-cool people that helped me through so much. I'm still engaging in peer support and accessing my university for mental health. I will meet a new therapist for one on one and continued maintenance. I still have a lot to work through, but much has changed. I'm on speaking terms with my family now. Some people may disagree with this because they're dysfunctional, but it is my eyes-open decision. I let go of and and have mentally said goodbye to the 'chosen family' with whom things were going badly. I stopped hanging on. I am still taking my meds. Still stressed, but not living totally on the edge anymore. Hope everyone is doing OK. I personally would recommend IOP as an option or partial hospitalization if need be. I was just determined not to go back inpatient-I never got anything from that. I got a lot out of IOP and didn't have to walk around in those stupid grippy socks and turn my stuff in to someone...I hate inpatient ya know?

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

So happy that you got some help at the IOP. I agree
that inpatient can interrupt your life and make you
feel like a sick person.
Here's to your healing!
That's wonderful!!... xo
