Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I think the difference is, they are guys---and don't participate in that back-biting, bitchity stuff that women are sometimes prone to. They weigh their friendships differently.
And, plus, I am a married lady and therefore off the market---so no worrying about all that confuzzling sexual stuff.
It's a pretty big circle of people, with many interests and strengths (artists, musicians, motorheads, a few athletes and a philosopher or two). They all seem to tolerate everybody's differences pretty easily, and also really enjoy each other's company.
I'm grateful to have them all in my life, because "old friends" are really pretty much completely out of touch.
I am finding that animals make wonderful company.
Last year I broke-up with a long term friend over many important differences in opinion. Our relationship already had serious problems. I swim at a public pool and have long term relationships with other regular swimmers. I used to go to a health club and those people were very friendly. Religious organizations supply relationships: but I found many of those people not so interesting.
I read that speaking with strangers is good for depression. I find people who understand our condition are best as friends. Being offline it helps me. I have moved many times and have lost contact with older friends and relatives. I am not that open anymore to just everyone.
>> one was even murdered!!! How scarey is that!!
Three of my friends died in 1990-s. One in a car accident, two by suicide. I did not feel as much grief as fear of my own mortality.
I used to have many telephone friends.
People with whom I argue on Russian forums are not really friends.
