Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Do they say these things because they believe them, not usually. Do they say them because they're blinded to the fact that bad things happen.....probably not. They say these things because they see that your hurting and your having a hard time and they don't know what else to say or how else to help. And it has been proven in many Clinical Studies that having a positive outlook and using the Power of Positive thinking does help patients improve.
Now i'm not the fluffy bunny type and I personally don't care for Platitudes and Mantra's and Uplifting bible verses every day, etc. The only one I ever use, is "Fake it till you Make it." that one actually tends to work and help you just fake it through the tough times until you can get back to yourself when things are better.
People don't say things to us because they want us to know their better or special or unaffected....they say things because generally they just want to help and are doing the best they can.
Take Care,
Kat
Most people over 50, I would expect, would 100% understand. But you're not likely to get that feeling from many of them, because your understanding is not adequate to it yet. You don't understand when you're being understood.
We go through pain. yes. Always. All of us. All the time. There is not one person in your life who, if you asked them to tell you their worst story about their life, didn't have you in tears at how tough they had had it. That's the thing we need to always remember. That when someone is saying some mindless 'look on the bright side' thing that this may be how they are not dead right now, that this mantra that they have repeated is why they never killed themselves.
and that they're offering you their most precious jewel.
It's always just a matter of perspective. Just remember they care, and that's the bottom line really. Knowing and understanding is less important than caring. :)
