Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Happy 4th of July.
Happy? Humm?
I should be happy. It's a holiday. I'm on vacation with my family.
My two adult kids are home from university and took time off work to spend with their dad and me.
We're all together doing activities I am SUPPOSED to enjoy (all my favorite things shopping, beach, swimming, shows, ECT)
....and yet...I feel sad. Im struggling to enjoy anything. It doesn't make any sense. Everything should be good. I have no reason to feel sad or depressed. What the heck is wrong with me! Why can't I just have a good time !?
I'm faking having a good time. I don't want my family to miss out on their fun, or have to worry about me. After all (the kids) made sacrifices just to be here. I can't let them know I'm incapable of enjoying my time with them.
Ahhh this sucks!!!!!

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.
You don't want to bother anyone, or cancel plans.
But the truth is, that depression is a real illness. It's painful.
Is there anyone around that you can talk to?

I'm glad that you reached out here today.
But it's just not that way.
Don't be so hard on yourself. It's just another day in a year. If you felt bad or depressed before you went on vacation, you will still feel bad on vacation. I agree with the other posts that seeing a psychiatrist for diagnosis and possible medication may help you. And speaking with a therapist can be very helpful. I speak with my therapist once a week.
Hope you feel better.
.... definitely don't wanna feel like this. I've struggled most of my life off and on sometimes harder than others.
This past year's been a hard one.
