Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I was so glad that I had therapy today, my symptoms have not been under control. For about the past month or so, my sleep has been really disturbed. Me taking time off of work is a double edged sword. I have been taking time off so that I can put my attention on graduating. Working too many hours has affected my grades and I failed an assignment. I only have about a week or so until my final class is done and in the long run I'm probably facing a shortfall of about $500.00-$1000.00. In the big scheme of things it isn't a lot. Failing my final class would be a big deal and my graduation would get pushed out, which would be not good. So it is what it is.
But, sleep has been really off, and anxiety high. I could not get to sleep until about 4 AM this morning, and had a pretty early therapy appointment. I had to get up at 7 AM. So for my 9 AM therapy appointment I could barely get two thoughts together. It was OK though. She is pretty good and I got to work through some things. I have one more appointment with her in mid-December and then I won't have her as a therapist anymore as she is paid through my university. It's been great because therapy is paid through my tuition and I also would get free unlimited phone therapy from people on call if I needed it. I utliized it this holiday. So nice because there are no co pays. When the therapist that I had with my insurance turned out to be a flop, my university found someone for me and she was a perfect fit. Otherwise, finding one yourself is trial and error and time-consuming.
I meant to come home and just take like an hour nap. I ended up sleeping four hours solid from about 12-4. That really is too long. I was having nightmares and I think I am under a lot of stress. I dreamt water was flooding our house and I said to my mom, "Mom, call an expert or call Dad." My dad has always been a rational person that just handles things. I think I am really scared about the way the world is going and how things are going to change. It's going to be hard the day I lose my parents, they are old. My dad was alcoholic and abusive when I was a kid, but also stoic and rational and really could stand on business, like an old school dad. I'm worried bad things are going to happen, it does kind of have that sensation like a house filling up with water.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

good luck with the last bit of classes at school....my last bit in my grad school I had to withdraw from class that I could not pass.....so in reality withdrawal became a failure.....that is a though thing in school to have to face.....it was a public relations writing class.....it sucked.....I hated that class.....
