in 45 minutes to bike 2 miles to walmart for stuff; a sunday for almost no traffic, and also bad memories of long ago sundays.
my worthless, drunken, cold hearted dad would take me to church 8 miles away, with annual end of year whatever members meetings after church, for an hour or two---for me to sit in car at curb unitl it was over, with me only last year realizing he wouldn't let some bum be stuck like that, but it was ok for me to sit in the car for an hour or two.
wasn't till last year I realized all his church in his hometown 8 miles away nonsense was really about him growing up poor and now having a well paying job, and waiting to act like a big shot----and once he couldn't work anymore, that's when he killed himself.
my church going dad to bars for TWELVE HOURS every Saturday. And he cold hearted and cheapskate to me, while being nice to lowlifes and blowing his money like some bum. And he never bothered fixing our shack of a house up, the worst looking house in town, with me being reminded of that when I do bicycle from one end to another to walmart.
almost natural for me to have had a lousy life cause of all this. And also natural for me to not be religious, for lots of other reasons.
so, the concept of god and hell is meaningless to me. I have had my hell on earth, so it would be downright crazy for me to even imagine any afterlife hell. And, any god that exists should let people have happy lives and memories, otherwise, no point in a god.
20 minutes more for me to bike past churches on way to walmart...

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

i didn't forget stuff that happened to me---i just kept on shrugging it off, unable to emotionally to feel any pain, and too stupid to know when people were treating me like dirt.
people would make fun of me, in front of my parents, in my parents house, with my parents and myself too stupid to say anything back. My sadistic mom seemed to make friends with people who bad mouthed me.
my athiestism, which even comes from books i read on the history of religion, and not my past, is the secret I'm still reluctant to reveal to anybody in the real world. Sundays seems to bring this stuff out in me.
I'm not here for an argument.
At age 55, on high blood pressure pills, sometimes blurred vision, with a sickly old cat, living in a rural ghetto, around petty criminals, this is MY confession, before i die, who knows how soon.
last time i was in therapy, the therapist got ANGRY at me for complaining that one person in a therapy group owed me $200, and that convicted heroin dealers were being sent there by the court.
I read your posts and feel so much excitement
I get this bubbling up of a cheerleader inside me
did I step on toes? I didnt mean to
I learned anger is a motivating emotion, it creates sensations and urges in a body to move, to fight or to run away, but to move
its evolutionary in my mind
its natures way of rejecting whats dangerous or unwanted, so we can push it away from us, or push ourselves away from it, and create a whole other experience
and...anger is a heck of a lot more powerful a feeling than grief, or hopelessness, the growling and gnashing of teeth reminds us we are powerful, we're not worms but lions and tigers and bears oh my
anyway, I hope you understand where I'm coming from
I caught some penn and teller bulls#t episodes on youtube---with one about anxiety being good...if you have the right attitude about anxiety, with anxiety having inspired people to do various works of art.
but, then there's me:)

yer cute eh?
:) love the humour
right now I'm dealing with my 20 year old cat dying, with worries of carrying him to the vet, both ways, and digging in the rock hard ground afterwards....so its either this, or get another 5 liter box of wine, after the last box seemed to have blurred my eyesight a bit.
my drunken neighbor is still yelling; hours ago I fed a cat that is living in the empty adjacent ex-flop house, with its door kicked in; there's still a used needle in the alley I'm not gonna pick up, I have plug in radiators for heat, my 15? yr old glasses are glued and scotch taped together, a group home is above my floor, my mattress had a spring poking up that cut me, my dentist told me I have numerous teeth that are 90 pecent filling, my parents empty house is the town eyesore that I keep on waiting to be on page one of the local paper....
and, I am glad I have my own apt, but...I'm never gonna be able to afford a car, and, again...I'm dealing with this year being the last for my 20 yr old cat.
would you prefer "banjo-vania"?
the toothbrush was invented in pa---cause otherwise it would have been called the teeth brush.
"you can tell I'm not a local---I have most of my teeth"....I overheard that from a couple newcomers over the years.
We each must answer for ourselves. I am sorry about your childhood and the memories that haunt you from the hypocritical life your dad led as well as others that have commented on this post.
I have been drug and alcohol free now for 40 years. I have been a Pastor and a preacher now for 38 years. My thoughts and prayers are with you, that you can find peace in you soul and life, as I have.
