This may be long but please hang in here with me.. I need to rant..
Monday night at midnight.. A woman here in Utah reported her 4 year old boy missing. He had only been here in Utah for 10 days from Virginia as he was living with his father and just visiting his mother and her new husband.. To make a long story short, after many many hours of the police and many others searching for the boy and all the sex offenders in the area being approached, they called off the search near the appartments and found the poor little boys remains burried 30 miles away.. The mother and step father have now been arrested with the step father admitting to murder. I dont know the full story as they have not said yet.. I would imagine that some how it will have to do with drugs, as it usually does here, somehow some way.. soooooooooooo here is a big concern for me..
My finace has many grand kids and one of his grandkids has children.. three of them.. the youngest having major mental and physical problems including what is called *angel man* syndrome.. I have been told by many that his mother dropped him more then once when he was about three months old as she was so high on drugs.
A grandmother has been taking care of these children for 31/2 months because neither the father or the mother, recently divorced, wants the responsibilty of these three beautiful children.. I would take them but I am not able.. The mother of said children takes all the food stamp money and ss payments for the young child and buys drugs for her and her boyfriend. Her mother has finally came and picked up the kids and is making *Jessica* take care of them now..
Now my concern is that Jessica does not want this responsibility nor does her drug dealing boyfriend, or Als grandson that is the father. I am so afraid that she is going to take it out on these children and seeings as how they both do drugs infront of these kids and have scoundrels hanging around them all the time, that something of this nature could happen to one of these lovely children..
What is your opinion of what I might be able to do? I am just a *step grandmother* but I am really very concerned for the welfare of these beautiful children. Maybe I watch to much tv but I really believe that a travisty could really happen to one of these children. I want to step up to the plate before one of *my grandchildren* becomes a statistic..

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

or what about working with the mothers mom....on a human level....as mothers yourself....to see about getting these children removed from the home.
this makes me sick. these poor babies are not going to have a chance in this life.
whatever you do i will pray that something good happens here...
That alone is enough for both of 'they' to go to jail. I don't know how effective it would be, but maybe notify police of 'child endangerment' happening RIGHT NOW (at a time when you know the children are exposed to drug use).
Maybe that would result in a 'raid' .. catching them red handed. The drawback to this is the trauma set before the kids. I would have to consider that long and hard before I called 911.
Dunno if this is a good idea .. it is just what came to mind.
The decision to take in a grand child (or step grand child) and raise it is a huge one. Equally important is deciding NOT to do this when you are not able to do so. It is the welfare of the child that is important in such a decision.
Your concerns sound very valid. Have you considered reporting the situation to the child welfare people in your area? Most agencies allow people to make anonymous reports.

I am so sorry you are placed in this horrible mess. You are a Wonderful Grandma and have every right to worry
CALL THE SCHOOL! they are mandated reporters. i have seen this time and again...the police will come to the school and talk to the children...
the more red flags you start waving the better.
I am watching everything and taking notes and have put my words in more then once, even though they are not related to me..
I may have to be the one to talk to Jessicas mother about this but............ she said that she was keeping her away from her drug selling boyfriend and yet they showed up to pick up the kids Sunday together at another grandparents.. I am really worried.. I guess I will just have to do what I have to do... I will not put up with anyone hurting these children.. They have already been through more then they ever should have.. I wish someone would have done this me and my siblings when we were young.. I shall not stand back and let anyone abuse these children in anyway....

Yes, you have the right to report them! You are standing up for the CHILD'S rights, and that, IMO, trumps parental rights EVERY FRICKING TIME!
