Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I know that I developed this technique as a child to protect myself and live through various abuses. I'm trying really hard to come to terms with it and stop blaming myself for it. I also try to keep hoping that one day I will find a better way to deal with my triggers.
Also, I wanted to say that there is something related called de-realization that I used to experience a lot. Unlike when I dissociate, I am fully conscious and know what is going on, but just feel like I'm outside my body or in a movie or that the world isn't real even though I know it is.
I know it's hard, but hang in there. We're all
here to support each other and help one another understand that our symptoms are valid responses to what we have gone through.
Love ya

A line I heard in a movie once that I soooo identified with: "Sometimes I feel like people are catching on to things a second or two faster than I am." Not an exact quotation, but pretty much how the line was read.
There's also depersonalization which works a bit different. Latter is concerned with the unreality of the world while the former is the unreality of self...
I deal with the first at time to time due to borderline..
Love to you. I know this is tough.
