Im fed up of chasing friends. Texting first, I always check in to see how they are, ask about their families. Ask to meet up to get fobbed off with excuses or just ignored. We’re busy people I get it. We’ve all got jobs, loves, lives and families. But I can find the time to send a text here and there. Why can’t they? But then I hate myself for thinking it. Why should these people be friends with me?. I just wish they would tell me straight.

Thats always me. Loneliness is so much more unbearable than people understand. the best thing I ever did was to just start inserting myself into social groups and conversations. nothing big. just a little bit here and there. give a couple comments, make a few jokes, and move on. talking to people even a little does a lot to help with the loneliness. then people can get a sense of you and will be more welcoming. the worst thing you can do is wait for people to come to you (it doesn't sound like you do that. I'm just throwing that out there). honestly, if you feel like someone is trying to ignore you, give up on them. if you keep trying to force it, you'll just keep putting yourself through how you're currently feeling again and again.

I hear you, thanks for your comments. It breaks my heart as the two people I have in mind when thinking about this are really good friends, at least I thought so, I don’t want to lose them, I care about them

Friendship is just like any other relationship, it does not work one-sided. The best friendship is when they care as much about you as you do about them. That said, I know how hard that is to find. I have only two friends, and haven't heard from either in months because I hate being the one who messages first too. Follow my advice not my example xD

MJay, you have gotten some great replies. Sometimes folks forget it is the friends who will be there when the all consuming relationship ends. Sometimes folks are really busy. I have a few friends that I get to see in real time, but many I pick up the phone to call them and leave a message. A real voice trumps a text. Sometimes we play telephone tag, but eventually get to talk. Many folks get too many texts to keep track of who they didn't respond to. As we go through life, the friends in it may change. Go for it. Comforting hugs.
